什么是多義詞?

多義詞是在不同上下文中具有不同含義的詞。諸如利潤豐厚的單詞僅具有一個含義(產(chǎn)生利潤)，而取決于人物，以多種方式使用諸如數(shù)字之類的多義單詞。您可能會在歷史課中學習歷史人物，在數(shù)學課中計算人物，或在英語課中分析言語人物。

為什么在新的SAT閱讀測試中，多義詞如此重要?

在新的SAT中，多義詞尤其重要，因為您必須在上下文問題中的單詞中定義它們。

raise

Raise幾乎可以在你提出什么東西的任何時候使用，或者是字面意思：“如果你打開活板門，你會看到一個秘密通道”，或者比喻地說：“請不要提起我的蜘蛛恐懼癥。”動詞raise來自古英語r?ran，意思是“養(yǎng)大”，例如，“你真的想在那個城市撫養(yǎng)你的孩子嗎?”作為一個名詞， raise也可以意味著加薪。

動詞Support的意思是承受重量或負載，或以其他方式支持。如果你用積木建造一座房子，你可以安全地移走其中的一些，但如果你移走一個支撐上面積木重量的積木，整個結(jié)構(gòu)可能會倒塌。

如果你同意或贊同一項事業(yè)、人、想法或類似的東西，你就支持它。如果你支持某個慈善機構(gòu)，你可以將你的時間或金錢捐獻給這個事業(yè)。動詞support也意味著用新的證據(jù)加強;證實。當政客們提出論點時，他們通過提供“事實和數(shù)字”來支持它。你的工作是找出他們的證據(jù)是否被歪曲來支持他們的立場。
